Two of the cars smashed by suspected cultists

Suspected cultists at about 7am today, Saturday December 5, attacked the popular Igbudu Market, Warri, smashing the windscreen of four cars and destroying television as well as other valuables worth millions of naira in the Igbudu town hall.

The cars destroyed are Toyota Avensis with registration number: MM 564, - KJA, Honda Accord with registration number BUR  - 23 AA, Toyota  Camry with registration number KP-374 LH and Mercedes Benz 200 with registration number AYB  54 AE

The attack sent panic into the densely populated Igbudu Community as many of the residents and traders reportedly scampered for safety.

When Our Correspondent visited the scene few hours later, people were seen in groups, discussing the fresh attack in hush tones.

The President of Igbudu Market Traders’ Association, Olorogun Clement Tevwaren, who spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle International, said the attack by the hoodlums has become a recurring decimal, adding that he had been working with members of his executive to ensure that soldiers in the market are on 24/7 alert, to ensure the hoodlums are kept at bay.

According to him, he had held several security meetings with the Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Michael Tidi, following which the attacks died down, before today’s renewed attack.

He alleged that the cultists are from Igbudu Community, but those who know them refused to disclose their identity.

“Many of the hoodlums live in the community and they know them, but they have refused to fish them out, if not, total peace would have been restored in the market", he opined.

Olorogun Tevwaren called on the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi and the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to find a lasting solution to the continuous attacks of Igbudu Market by the cultists.
