One of the newly sworn in Justices of Peace, JP in Delta State, Sir, Chief Tennyson Emuobonuvie, has promised people of Agbon in Ethiope East Local Government Area and Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area, both of Delta State as well as the Delta State Government, of using his new elevation as Justice of Peace, JP to attract social justice, maintain law and order in the society and do more in making them proud.

                                                

In an exclusive chat with Our Senior Correspondent Monday March 1, shortly after taking the Oath of Justice and Allegiance, Sir Emuobonuvie, a staunch Catholic, Knight of St. John International, KSJI and Recording/Correspondence Secretary, Commandery 940, Agbarho in Ughelli North, said he had been mediating on several issues involving conflict resolutions for the past three decades, while in active service and even after retirement.

According to Sir Tennyson Emuobonuvie, JPs are community-related, saying: “If you don't have your community at heart as JP, it becomes useless.”

 

He promised to distinguish himself by ensuring there's peace and unity in his locality and to assist government in peaceful resolutions across the state.

 

Sir Emuobonuvie, is a seasoned Electrical Engineer, whose venture into the oil and gas industry had taken him far and wide.

 

Chief Emuobonuvie, is also the "Uyotaforere" Truth is Best of Agbon Kingdom, Delta State.

 

Chief Emuobonuvie’s Judicial Oath and Oath of Allegiance was administered by Justice G. B Briki Okolosi, on behalf of the Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshall Umukoro at the Effurun High Court of Justice Complex.

                                                                                                       

He was charged by the State Chief Judge, Justice Marshall Umukoro, to maintain peace, help bring Justice closer to the people, issue search warrant and other functions that may be assigned to him by the State Governor.

 

Hon. Justice Umukoro, directed all Local Government Areas High Court to proceed on swearing-in of the new JPs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to avoid large gatherings.

 

He urged the Justices of Peace to live up to expectation, warning that any JP found wanting, will be shown the way out.
