Atuwatse the II Secondary School, Joel Success win the 2021 Mulade Quiz, Essay competitions

First time entrant of the Comrade Sheriff Mulade Peace and Unity Quiz/Essay Competition, Atuwatse the II Secondary School in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area, has won the 2021 Comrade Sheriff Mulade Annual Peace and Unity Quiz Competition, while Joel Success of Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza in Gbaramatu, Warri South-West Local Government Area, won the Essay category of the competition, held Wednesday March 3 at Hussey College, Warri in Delta State.

 

Fresh Angle International can report that Atuwatse the II Secondary School went home with one hundred thousand naira as cash reward, while second placed Erejuwa Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri in Warri South Local Government Area and second runner-up, Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School, Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South-West Local Government Area, received seventy thousand naira and fifty thousand naira, respectively.

 

Atuwatse the II Secondary School, Warri, defeated Erejuwa Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri, Obodo Secondary School in Warri South Local Government Area, Alema Model College, Abigborodo, Ogbinbiri Secondary School, Oloduwa Secondary School, Opuama, all in Warri North Local Government Area as well as Kokodiagbene Secondary School, Gbaraun Grammar School and Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School in Warri South-West Local Government Area.

 

Our Senior Correspondent reports that Joel Success of Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza got fifty thousand naira for coming tops in the Essay Competition, while the first runner-up, Esede Daniel of Alema Model College, Abigborodo and the second runner-up, Eyinsan Tsaye of Atuwatse the II Secondary School, went home with thirty thousand naira and twenty thousand naira, respectively, apart from the consolation prizes distributed to students, who participated in both competitions.

The National Coordinator / CEO, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, explained that the dual competition was his modest way of contributing to the advancement of education in the state, adding that he is also using it to promote and sustain the existing peace among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic groups in the three Warri Local Government Areas.  

Comrade Mulade, a Human Rights Activist/ Peace Ambassador, noted that the competition was also targeted at bridging the gap between the riverine and rural schools with their urban counterparts.

According to Comrade Mulade, the 2021 edition of the dual competition, is the 5th in the series, which began at Kokodiagbene in Warri South-West Local Government Area.

He charged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, all Governors in the South-South Region and Nigeria in general, to pay more attention to the improvement of education, in order to check unrest and vices associated with youths.

 

The Environmentalist, revealed that the 2022 edition of the competitions will include schools from more riverine/rural communities in Bomadi, Burutu and Patani Local Government Areas.

Mulade, commended the Chief Inspector of Education, Warri South Local Government, Prince Alekwe, T C, Chief Inspector of Education, Warri South-West Local Government, Omagbemi Mercy, the Chief Inspector of Education, Warri North Local Government, Ejiro Ohwofadjeke, Mr. Eze Ariwojo, a former Chief Inspector of Education in Warri South-West Local Government, Dr. Okerie and others for their support.

 

While congratulating the winners, Mulade announced scholarship award to the overall performing student, Soyinka Fumi, a 16-year old Junior Secondary School Student from Erejuwa Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri.

 

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Warri South Chapter, Comrade Ishmael Ikuejawa and other guests present, commended Comrade Mulade and CEPEJ for their love towards education.

 

The C.I.E Warri South, Prince Alekwe, encouraged the overall performing student with a cash donation and praised Mulade for taking such a consistent bold step, saying: “Comrade Mulade is doing so good".
