In a bid to avert the ugly situation that ensued between officers of the Nigeria Police force and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) in Imo State, the Kogi State Commandant of NSCDC Suleiman Mafara has warned officers under his command to be vigilant and ready to display high level of professionalism in discharge of their duties at all time.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that Mafara, who gave the warning on Friday at a one day workshop for all arms personnels in the State Command emphasized that officers should embrace high spirit of synergy with other sister agencies and devoid themselves from unnecessary rivalries.
The Commandant re-echoed that one security agency cannot do it all considering the population of Nigeria if compared with the numerical strength of security agencies established in the country.
Mafara, however commended NSCDC Commandant General
Ahmed Abubakar Audi for his acumen in handling the issue saying "two wrongs can not make a right. Therefore, we enjoin all officers and men of the corps to sue for peace at all times".
He also called on officers under his command to broaden their operational scope and intelligence knowledge geared towards protection of lives and properties in Kogi State.
It could be recalled that, there was crisis between the NSCDC and the Nigerian Police in Imo State, where an officer was allegedly arrested by NSCDC personnel for trying to stop the State Commandant convoy that was coming from where an illegal refinery was said to have exploded killing unspecified number of people.
It was further learnt that, the arrested Police officer was detained, and when his colleagues got wind of the development they came for his release which the state Commandant of NSCDC turned down.
According to media report from the state, this infuriated them, hence the ( Police) allegedly went and mobilized for more men and came back to NSCDC office for show a down.
In view of the ugly scenario, the Commandant General of NSCDC Ahmed Abubakar Audi directed that all the State Command must maintain a robust synergy with all sister agencies, adding that what happened in Imo was avoidable.
