The kingship tussle brewing in Okere–Urhobo kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State has taken a new twist with Chief Victor Okumagba dragging the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, “B” Division, Warri, C.S.P Anietie Eyoh to a Federal High Court over perceived unlawful arrest, molestation and detention, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.

Chief Vincent Okumagba is also demanding the sum of N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) as general and special damages.

In Suit No. FHC/W/CS/118/2015, the claimant averred that on the 15th of August, 2015, the DPO ordered his men to arrest him and in the process he was “pushed, slapped, molested, verbally abused, manhandled, harassed, oppressed and his clothes squeezed and rough-handled before he was locked up”, when he went to the station to seek the release of two of his elder brothers.

Chief Victor Okumagba further claimed that in the process of being dragged behind the counter, the sum of N85,000.00 (Eighty-five thousand Naira),  a Nokia E90 Phone, a Blackberry Classic Phone and medicated glasses were collected from him and was yet to be returned to him as at the time of this report.

He prayed the Honourable Court to compel the defendants to return all the items forcefully confisticated from him and tender an unreserved apology for the violation of his fundamental human rights and pay him N5,000,000.00 as general and special damages.

The defendants in the Suit include C.S.P Anietie Eyoh, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police. No date has been fixed for hearing in the Writ of Summons dated 18th September, 2015 and signed by the Court Registrar.

Chief Victor Okumagba had petitioned the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, alleging unprofessional conduct and flagrant abuse of Office by the D.P.O “B” Division, Warri.

The petition addressed to Mr. Mike Okiro by Oghenejabor Ikimi and Co (legal Practitioners) requested the Office of the Chairman of the Commission to cause a discreet and unbiased investigations into the complaints of Chief Victor Okumagba against C.S.P Anietie Eyoh, whose actions he stated could lead to a breach of public peace and further tarnish the image of the Police Force.
