NDIOPC alleges molestation by soldiers as fresh protest broke out in Chevron's fields

Members of Niger Delta Itsekiri Oil Producing Communities, NDIOPC, this morning, Wednesday November 30, began fresh protest at Dibi, Olero and Abiteye Fields in Delta state, being operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, alleging molestation by soldiers deployed to protect the facilities .                 

 

Leader of NDIOPC, Raymond Aderojo , told Fresh Angle International via telephone that they resumed the protest over alleged failure by the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited to honour agreement reached at the palace of The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III in the aftermath of their earlier protests, July this year.           

 

The group's demands are as follows: "

 

1.Immediate conversion of VTP5/OTP2, and VTP6 Trainees

 

2. Provision of Portable drinking water

 

3. Provision of electricity

 

4. Provision of Health Care.

 

5. Review of undergraduate scholarship

 

6. Review of Community workers salary    

 

7. Resumption of the Vocational Training Programme and sitting of the training centre in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area."          

 

Officials of Chevron Nigeria Limited, could not be reached as at the time of this report.          

 

The company, had maintained in the past that its dealing with host Itsekiri communities, is majorly through the Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC.
