Akinwumi Adesina

President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Nigeria's Akinwumi Adesina, has revealed that the total official development assistance to Africa in 2021 was $35 billion, making up 36% of remittances from diaspora.

Fresh Angle International can report that Adesina, who made the disclosure in two threads of tweet this morning, Saturday December 3, posited that development of Africa, must be priority for Africans, irrespective of where they live.

He stated: "You can have an African live in any part of the world, but you cannot take Africa from within an African.

"Regardless of how successful we are, Africa is our continent of birth, our source, root, identity, and pride. Development of Africa must be priority for Africans everywhere. Africans in diaspora are Africa’s largest financiers.

"Remittances from the diaspora to Africa grew from $37 billion in 2010 to $96 billion in 2021. Total Official Development Assistance to Africa in 2021 was $35 billion or 36% of remittances from diaspora. Prioritize their voice!"
