The newly created wing in the Ministry of Works and Transport in Delta State, Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DSTMA, which is attached to the Vehicle Issuance Office, V.I.O Zonal Office in Warri, is bringing a level of sanity to roads in Warri, Fresh Angle International checks reveal.
Our Correspondent who went round Warri, reports that the Traffic Marshalls deployed to Ugbuwangue, Airport Road and Okumagba/Estate Areas were on ground to ensure that tricycle operators and commercial bus owners do not park their automobiles against traffic regulation as well as enforce the use of the pedestrian bridge.
There was resistance from some motorists and pedestrians as many of them claimed ignorance of the new traffic law, while some flouted the directives of the Traffic Marshalls, others complied.
A passenger who spoke to Our Correspondent opined that the Traffic Marshalls cannot force him to use the pedestrian bridge as it has not been passed into law and officially announced, saying it is only those who are ignorant that they can prosecute.
Efforts by Our Correspondent to speak with the Head of Operations of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DSTMA proved abortive as she was informed that the Director General would be arriving Warri from Asaba on Wednesday May 12.
