WRPC support staff deny calling for reinstatement of Engr. Olasunkanmi as MD

Support Staff of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company, WRPC Limited, have denied calling for the reinstatement of Engr. Jimoh Olasunkanmi as Managing Director of the company, saying a letter purportedly written on their behalf, calling for Engr. Olasunkanmi's reinstatement, " is a figment of the imagination of the faceless authors."

Messrs Odjuvwu Monday Akivie and Mone Nathaniel Oris in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International this afternoon, Saturday September 23 on behalf of the Support Staff of WRPC, emphasized that they have never embarked on protest, calling on the management of NNPC to rescind its decision on any staff regarding deployment, promotion or retirement.

The statement, noted inter - alia: "Our attention has been drawn to a letter purportedly written on behalf of the Support staff Staff of Warri Refining and Petrochemical (WRPC) Limited allegedly protesting the retirement and consequent departure of Engr. Jimoh Olasunkanmi as the Managing Director of the Company.

"Ordinarily, we would have preferred to ignore such a letter and publication as a figment of imagination. This is because we are mindful of the commitments we made to major stakeholders including representatives of our Royal fathers and our community leaders following their intervention & pleas to allow the WRPC QUICK-FIX Project to proceed in an atmosphere devoid of rancour, which led to the suspension of our six weeks long protest/strike action that was embarked upon to press for a better conditions of service on 31st of May 2022.

"We wish to make it categorically clear that we the Support Staff of WRPC at no point write any letter of protest or whatsoever to the GCEO demanding for the reinstatement of Engr. Jimoh Olasunkanmi back to WRPC.

"Over the years, we have seen various MDs and Directors serve out their times in WRPC and at no point have we embark on protest for any of them who NNPC management deem fit to deploy to the SBU, promote or retire and Mr Jimoh Olasunkanmi will not be an exception. We continue to maintained our position that our loyalty and dedication is to the NPPC and our dear nation, and we will always give our maximum support to whomever is deployed to WRPC to ensure a timely and efficient conclusion of the ongoing Quick-Fix.

"Our legitimate Demands remains the same and haven't changed:

i. Regularisation of our Employment by the NNPC, taking advantage of our invaluable industry experience and qualifications

ii. Improvement of working conditions for all cadre of support staff to reflect current economic realities.

"We are however aware of the desperation of certain individuals who have 'settled in' to milk NNPC dry, and if possible will want to use the name of the Support Staff to achieve their ungodly and nefarious agenda because of their personal interests, which they believe that the top management of NNPC will quickly fall for, given the recent experiences of agitations by the Support Staff.

"We want to assure NNPC management and the GCEO that we are not in any way giving in to this cheap blackmail by this faceless paid individuals doing the bidding of their paymasters."
