The Nigerian Airforce, on Saturday December 23, began an unusual security check at the Nigerians Airforce gate section of the ever-busy Jeddo-Ughoton Road in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
Our Co-Publisher/Managing Editor, who has been monitoring the situation, reports that passengers on commercial tricycles were being made to come down from the tricycles, while raising up their two hands and motorcyclists were compelled to roll their bikes across the “emergency checkpoints”
The Jeddo-Ughoton Road, leads to neighbouring communities such as Adesa, Ugbokodo and Ughoton in Okpe Local Government Area as well as Omadino, Obodo and connects Oteghele as well as Ukpokiti, through the Omadino river, all in Warri South Local Government Area.
Investigation by This Newspaper, also revealed that selected motorists (private and commercial) undergo stop-and-search by the Airforce Personnel, most of whom are masked.
The stop-and-search, with three Airforce trucks by the side, usually occurs in the night and a single truck sighted during the day.
As at the time of this report, Friday December 29, it was not confirmed, but there were speculations that the Nigerian Airforce equally carried out aerial surveillance during the day around Jeddo, Thursday December 28.
