Vincent Sylvester 23 who claimed to be a 300 level student of the Department of Crops Science, University of Benin and Ogunde Victory, 25, have been caught by the police in Benin City over theft of a Camry car and blackberry Mobil phone.

According to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Olayinka Balogun, the suspects with their leader (Name withheld) now at large, conspired to snatch the car from the owner along Universal Street, Okhoro in December last year while armed with offensive weapons.

The CP said, the arrest of Vincent and Victory was made possible through the buyer of the phone, believed to be the one snatched with the car from its owner last December.

The buyer, a 24 -year old girl (name also withheld) was caught through an inbuilt tracking device in the phone by men of the anti-robbery squad, Okhoro police station Division. She was said to had confessed to the police that she bought the controversial phone at N50,000.00 (fifty thousand naira) from a store at Uwasota junction, along Ugbowo road in the capital city on the directive of Vincent.

Acting on the confessional statement of the girl, the police swooped on Vincent, arrested him and Victory who allegedly sold the phone to the girl.
Our Benin City Correspondent, reports that the alleged leader of the gang and owner of the shop where the girl bought the phone is said to have escaped to South Africa to evade police arrest.

In a chat with Fresh Angle, the suspects corroborated police claims but pleased for mercy, CP Balogun however assured that the suspects would be charged to court for trial as soon as investigation is completed.
