In this 21st century when government at all levels are making efforts at stopping child abuse globally, some parents are busy battering and abusing the gifts given to them by God.

The gripping story you are about to read is how a  14-year old boy, master Oghenewevde Ihwive was on Wednesday August 1, battered  for obtaining  one thousand, one hundred naira from his father, Mr. Endurance Izimi in Ekiagbon quarters, Aladja in Udu Local government area of Delta State.

Master Oghenewevde Ihwive who spoke with Our Senior Correspondent when he visited Aladja community on Monday August 6, claimed he collected one thousand, one hundred naira belonging to his father, Mr. Endurance Izimi due to hunger, stressing that he hardly eats in his father’s house.
In his words, “I don’t eat before going to school and sometimes, I eat only in the evenings, so I took the money which I used to buy rice, chin-chin and biscuits at school”.

The JSS 2 student of Aladja Grammar School told Fresh Angle that when his father who does upholstery returned from his place of work on Wednesday August 1, he put a knife on the flame burning from a kerosene stove and used it to burn virtually every part of his body after giving him the beating of his life. He said he did it after demanding for the money which he had already spent.

According to him, while the incident was on, his father’s wife was in Benin City, Edo State, but when she returned same day, all she could say was, “it is good for you”. He identified the father’s wife as “Philo” and her 2 female kids as Victory and Divine.

Master Oghenewevde Ihwive also told Fresh Angle that since the day of the incident, both his father and step mother locked him on their one room apartment at Ekiagbon quarters in Aladja Community.

Master Oghenewevde Ihwive told Fresh Angle further that his father does not pay his school fees, nor buy him text books let alone allow him eat good food in the house.

He told Fresh Angle that his father, Mr. Endurance Izimi had even bought acid threatening to bath him with it if he fails to provide the money. Fresh Angle gathered that the incident came to the knowledge of their neighbors when on Monday August 6, Mr. Endurance Izimi ordered his wife to push master Oghenewevde outside and lock his door when she is going out. Thereafter, aunty to master Oghenewevde, Mrs. Esther Obukowho was intimated of the development and she in turn reported the matter to the Aladja Vigilante Authority.
A nurse simply identified as Mrs.  Lodje who was administering treatment as at the time Our Senior Correspondent arrived Aladja described the burns as severe, nothing that master Oghenewevde had to be placed on a daily medical treatment for speedy recovery.
Attempts to speak with Mr. Endurance Izimi were unsuccessful as he is said to be at large with his wife.
In the meantime, mother to the victim, Mrs. Okeogene Kenneddy has promised to take up legal action against Mr. Endurance Izimi.
Fresh Angle investigations however reveal that Mr. Endurance Izimi and his ex-wife, Mrs. Okeoghene Kennedy divorced after 2 children (a boy & a girl) due to what was described by his ex-wife as “maltreatment”.
Sequel to that, he took master Oghenewevde as his own with the aim of taking full responsibility of his upkeep. She said, she left master Oghenewevde for him at the age of 2.
At the moment, both the Aladja Vigilante and men of the Nigeria Police Force in Ovwian have been on the look-out for Mr. Izimi and his wife who are presently on the run to avoid possible arrest and prosecution.
