At a time when Arab Cable network ,Aljazeera launched its new state of the art  sports studio on top of river in London, Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan says it is a disaster to construct roads in Delta State during rainy season“because the state is on water level”

The Governor who stressed that it is even more challenging in Delta South and Central senatorial districts of the state , disclosed the resolve of his administration not to award any new road contract this year “because of funding issues,” just as he reiterated his administration’s determination to complete all ongoing projects in the state.

Dr. Uduaghan who made the disclosures during a breakfast meeting with selected journalists in Warri Thursday August 9, revealed plans by his administration to ban commercial motorcyclists in major cities in the state, adding that palliative measures such as the purchase of tricycles and luxurious buses are being put in place by his administration to cushion the effect of the imminent ban.

On the much anticipated conduct of local government polls across the state, Dr. Uduaghan said “DSIEC (Delta State Independent Electoral Commission) is in better place to answer that question”, just as he quipped that a bill to amend the act establishing DSIEC have been sent to the State House of Assembly with a view to setting up machineries in motion for the conduct of the local government elections.

The governor noted that as soon as the StateHouse of Assembly resumes from its current recess, it will consider the names sent to it for approval in order for DSIEC to be constituted.

While frowning at the attitude of Deltans who dump refuse at drainage channels, Dr.Uduaghan disclosed that his administration suspended the state micro credit scheme“in order to increase the level of funding” following complains that the amount given as loans are inadequate.

The governor who claimed to have employed about 6,000 workers into the state civil service since assuming office in 2007, denied knowledge of any kingship crisis  at Oghara Kingdom in Ethiope West local government area of the state.
