The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Agriculture, Makurdi Chapter has appealed to Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and security agencies to assist in rescuing its member, Christie Agbulu who was recently kidnapped in Lokoja.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that Secretary of the union, Doctor Ishak Eneji made the appeal at a news briefing in Lokoja weekend.
Doctor Eneji explained that Christie Agbulu who is a staff of University of Agriculture Makurdi in the Department of Biological Sciences was abducted on November 26 when she travelled to Lokoja from Makurdi for a function.
He said the abductors demanded one hundred and fifty thousand naira ransom out of which one hundred thousand naira had been paid, but wondered why she had not been released even though the remaining fifty thousand naira had been paid into the abducted lady's account.
Doctor Eneji also said the Union's Acting Chairperson, Doctor Bemba Abjemba had met with the police in Lokoja since the incident happened and were assured that the lady would be released.
The Chairperson ASUU Federal University Lokoja, Doctor Anselm Oyem who also briefed newsmen, said the abductors had since cut communication with the family of the lady.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, ASP William Aya said no kidnap report has been made before the command.
