Kogi State Government has uncovered 18,471 ghost workers and unintended beneficiary in the State civil service and pension, Our Kogi State Correspondent can report.
The Chairman Staff Verification Review and Completion Committee, Yakubu Okala stated this during the reading of the screening report in Lokoja.
Okala noted that the unintended beneficiaries have gulped over 2.6 billion naira from the State Government coffers, just as he noted that the Review Committee was able to ascertain the work force of the State including Local Government workers and Pensioners.
According to the Committee Chairman, 12, 374 persons were cleared in the ministries, agencies and parastatals, 13,380 in local government councils, 9,364 primary school teachers, Local Government Officers, 1,618, State Pensioners, 5,344 and local government pensioners 3,048, making it a total of 45,128 cleared workers. The cost implication summed up to two billion, nine hundred and sixty-eight million, three hundred and forty four thousand, five hundred and Twenty-four naira ninety-seven kobo.
He quipped that as at 31st December 2015 the total work force in Kogi was 74,821 with MDA's 19,352, Local government 22,943, Local government teachers, 19,147, Local government officers, 2914, State Pensioners, 5,916 and local government pensioners 4,545.
