Addressing reporters shortly after the distribution of the palliatives, Tuesday evening, President of Ugbajo-Itsekiri, Mr. Mejebi Eyewuoma, said that the group thought it wise to celebrate the traditional ruler by providing palliatives for their kinsmen in rural areas so as to cushion the effects of the harsh economy.

Eyewuoma, who was flanked by other members including Prince Julius Temisanren, former President of Ugbajo Itsekiri UK, and Barr. Dede Ukuti, President of Itsekiri Congress UK stated, "usually, as part of the joy of coronation, we join His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, to celebrate.  Part of the things we are doing this year is to celebrate with people in our communities by sharing food items - rice, garri, beans , palm oil etc.

"We believe that the best way we can celebrate with His Majesty is to reach out to people in our communities. It is difficult in Nigeria as a whole, but it is more difficult in the rural communities. But most especially, it is to celebrate with His Majesty because he has created an environment where people can come and support the community.

"And those of us from the United Kingdom, we have come to join hands to support the people in our communities who we know are going through difficult times due to the financial situation".

The President encouraged more people to support the communities, and as well urged people in the communities "to come together to support the Olu of Warri to build our communities".
