Ward Delineation: Any attempt by Tompolo to falsely rewrite Omadino history, will be resisted - Activist Tsaye Edeyibo Mene

Omadino female activist and Chairperson of Egwa-tie Community, Mrs. Tsaye Edeyibo Mene, has warned that any attempt by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) to rewrite Omadino history, will be strongly resisted.

Mrs. Mene, who condemned the recent viral video made by High Chief Government Ekpemukpolo, vehemently refuted the claim by Gbaramatu people that they are the founders of Omadino, Okerenghigho and other surrounding Itsekiri communities in Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

She accused Tompolo of inciting crisis between Ijaw and Itsekiri, as a result of “his false and myopic claims of ownership of Omadino lands and misleading the public with false history of the Omadino people, who have more than 500 years well documented history, largely due to his penchant for violence.”

The Itsekiri activist, stated that in a sane society, the likes of Tompolo, “who gained prominence through violence, should be thoroughly investigated and be under government surveillance, instead of being awarded amnesty by late President Musa Yaradua, which seems clearly useless to him and the recent Pipeline Surveillance contract by the Federal Government.”

According to her, the people of Gbaramatu were initially called “Gbaran” who migrated from Bayelsa state and other part of Delta state, to fish in Omadino and its surrounding communities and were paying rent to Omadino for allowing them to sojourn in their land.

She emphasized that the documentary evidence of how Akpata and his people came to seek permission from the Omadino people, through Governor Chainomi, the Son of Princess Iye in the late 18th century, is contained in all the judgements, saying even the ancestors, including Gbaminido (an Ijaw) accepted their tenancy status and were dutifully paying their rent to the Omadino people, until the breakout of the infamous Warri crisis.

Mrs. Mene, drew the attention of Tompolo and his followers, to the various Supreme Court judgments in favor of the Omadino and other Itsekiri Communities like Ugborodo, against the Gbaramatu Ijaws in Warri South-West Local Government Area with regards to the true owners of Omadino, Okerenghigho, Ubakokodia, Egwa and other surrounding communities.

Whilst calling for the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to correct the perceived injustice done to the Itsekiri people by INEC in the proposed ward and unit delineation “which was done in collaboration with the Ijaws and Urhobos”  Mrs. Mene, alleged that the delineation exercise, was intended to extinct the Itsekiri people from their God-given homeland.

Mene called for the setting up of a panel of inquiry to investigate the questionable conduct of INEC in the whole process, just as she urged President Tinubu to terminate Tompolo”s Tantita security contract, “due to his human rights abuse, kidnapping and torturing of citizens, particularly those of Itsekiri ethnic nationality, in his illegal prison as well as allegations of lifting crude illegally with the aid of his security outfit and carrying out his ethnic cleansing agenda by using the instrumentality of government to perpetuate his agenda.”

Comr. Tsaye Mene reaffirmed that any attempt made by Government Ekpemukpolo to falsify the well documented history of Omadino, Ubakokodia, Okerenghigho, Egwa, Obodo, Ugborodo, Kantu as well as other Itsekiri surrounding communities, will be met with great resistance from the Itsekiri people.
