Gov. Ododo Flags off Construction of libraries, multipurpose Medical laboratories at PAAU Teaching Hospital Anyigba


The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo has officially handed over sites for the construction of classrooms, libraries, multipurpose Medical laboratories at the Prince Abubakar Audu Teaching Hospital Anyigba.

 

This is as the Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, Prof. Marietu Tenuche appreciated Gov. Ododo's effort to resuscitate the MBBS program, thirteen years after it was stopped.

She described the feat as unprecedented in the history of the University.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that other projects Gov. Ododo flagged off for construction at the PAAU include, the consultant offices and the renovation of existing clinical laboratories.

 

This construction work according to the Governor would enable PAAU commence the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, that will enable the institution graduate Medical Doctors amongst other medical professionals.

 

Gov. Ododo who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, expressed confidence that PAAU will in no distant time begin to admit Medical Students.

 

Gov. Ododo described the flag off as significant step towards his administration ongoing revolution to reposition medical and healthcare services delivery as well as research excellence in the State.

 

In her remarks, the enthusiastic Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Prof. Marietu Tenuche, expressed her unwavering confidence that the project flag off marks a significant milestone in the University's history.

 

The Vice Chancellor expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the administration of Gov. Ododo for his commitment to human capital development particularly in the Health sector, coming after the administration's grand breaking initiative of the upgrade of 88 primary healthcare centres across the State.

 

The Vice Chancellor described the handing over of project sites at PAAU Teaching Hospital to Contractors as a clear demonstration of the administration's pursuit to the significant improvement, geared towards meeting the healthcare needs of the people.

 

Prof. Tenuche praised the commitment of the present administration in the State towards reviving the NBBS program and the provision of healthcare manpower.

 

Towards reviving the NBBS program in the University, Prof. Tenuche said her administration made sustained efforts to ensure

the commencement of the elite program by establishing Nursing Science Programs, B.Sc Anatomy Programs, B.Sc Physiology programs ,B.Sc Medical Science laboratory programs and B.Sc Pharmacology.

 

The Vice Chancellor praised the administration of former Gov Yahaya Bello for the befitting edifice that now serves as PAAU Teaching Hospital.

 

In his goodwill message, the Chief Medical Director Of PAAU Teaching Hospital, Dr Nayo Oladele, expressed the appreciation of the University to Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo described him as a true Servant leader, a man of great love and passion for his people.

 

Also speaking, Hon. John Urah, Chairman, Dekina LGA, described Gov. Ododo as a promise keeper, assured of the support and loyalty of the entire people of Dekina Local Government to his administration.
