Warri South: PDP convenes emergency meeting after Oborevwori’s defection to APC

The leadership of Peoples Democratic Party in Warri South Local Government Area, have invited members of the party to an emergency meeting, Fresh Angle International, can authoritatively report.

The meeting, slated for 11.00am, Friday Apil 25 at King George Hall, Warri South Local Government Council Sub-Secretariat in Warri, is a likely fallout of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s announced defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Invite for the “compulsory” meeting, which was credited to the Chairman of PDP, Warri South Local Government, Hon. Richard Pessu, noted: “You are invited to a very important emergency meeting of Leaders, Political Appointees, Ward Chairmen and Stakeholders, Scheduled as follows:”

Whilst announcing his defection to the All Progressives Congress, Wednesday at Asaba, Governor Oborevwori, had reportedly directed members of the PDP in the state to go their wards on Monday April 28 to pick APC membership card, with a warning that any appointee who fails to adhere to the directive, should resign from his government.

Meanwhile, the state leadership of All Progressives Congress, in a statement released last night, notified all Local Government Chairmen of the Party, to visit the State Secretariat at Asaba, today, Thursday April 24, for the collection of Registration Booklets for onward distribution to the various ward chairmen for the purpose of issuing membership cards “to the numerous new members to ensure the timely and efficient formalization of their membership.”

The statement, which was credited to Delta State Publicity Secretary of APC, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., encouraged all new members to approach the Party ward chairmen/offices for registration and ensure they complete the necessary formalities.
