Members of Warri Youths for Good Governance, WYGG, have thrown their weight behind the third term bid of the member representing Warri South Constituency I in Delta State House of Assembly, Dr. Augustine Uroye, saying their endorsement was not built on sentiment, but substance.

President of Warri Youths for Good Governance, Comr. Tuoyo Eboma, made the position of the group known, during a media briefing held in Warri, Delta State, Friday April 10.

Comr. Eboma, who read the press statement, which was e-signed by himself and the Secretary of WYGG, Comr. Toju Buwa, posited that Hon. Uroye, has proven that governance is not about rhetorics and noisemaking, but impact.

Below is full text of the press statement:

A CALL FOR LEGISLATIVE CONTINUITY - THE CASE FOR HON. AUSTIN UROYE'S THIRD TERM

Distinguished members of the press, respected stakeholders, political leaders, and fellow citizens of Warri South Constituency I, we welcome you warmly to this historic and significance gathering.

Today is not just another day of speeches, it is a moment of clarity, a convergence of conviction, and a declaration of purpose by Warri youths who believe in the power of continuity, accountability, and responsible leadership.

We speak as members and executives of Warri Youths for Good Governance (WYGG), a youth-based socio-political movement driven by the desire to see governance work for the people, especially the youth, who often stand at the receiving end of policy decisions yet remain under represented in shaping them. Our presence here reflects a shared commitment to civic responsibility and active participation in democracy.

After careful consultations, critical evaluations, and engagement with community voices, we have reached a firm and collective decision. Today, we publicly declare our total and unwavering support for Hon. Austin Uroye, fondly known as Oki, in his bid to secure a third term as the Member representing Warri South Constituency 1 in the Delta State House of Assembly. Our endorsement is not built on sentiment, but on substance. It is rooted in a track record that speaks quietly, yet powerfully, a pattern of leadership that does not seek noise, but delivers results.

Hon. Uroye has proven that governance is not about rhetorics and noisemaking; it is about impact. And in Warri South Constituency I, that impact is visible, measurable, and deeply felt. From his early days as an Environmental Health Officer to his stewardship as Secretary and later Chairman of the Warri South Local Government Transition Committee. Hon. Austin Uroye has consistently demonstrated a commitment to grassroots development.

His administration empowered 400 women with financial support, injecting life into small businesses and strengthening local economies. He went further to provide 100 youths with tricycles, offering not just mobility, but dignity through self reliance.

In the State Assembly, his legislative presence has been marked by people centered advocacy and strategic influence. As Chairman of the House Committee on Health, he has facilitated employment opportunities for medical professionals, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff from within the constituency, bridging the gap between governance and livelihood.

Education, too, has not been left behind. Through deliberate interventions, many young people from Warri South Constituency 1 have gained admission into schools of nursing and midwifery across Delta State. His "Back to School" initiative extended hope to children in riverine communities, equipping them with books and learning materials, small tools that often make a big difference.

Infrastructure under his watch tells its own story, schools have been built, renovated, and modernized, from Ugbuwangue to Ode Itsekiri, from Ogunu to Omadino. Classrooms now stand where there were none; learning environments have been transformed into spaces of possibility. These are not abstract achievements, they are physical, enduring contributions to the future of our children.

In times of crisis, leadership reveals its true character. During the COVID 19 pandemic, Hon. Uroye ensured that relief materials reached constituents and contributed to the operational readiness of isolation centers in Warri. His responsiveness during such critical periods underscores a leadership style grounded in empathy and responsibility.

Beyond projects and policies, there is something to be said about -consistency. Hon. Uroye is not a loud politician. He does not dominate headlines with theatrics. Instead, he works, steadily, deliberately, and effectively. His approach reminds us that true leadership often speaks in actions rather than words.

As a youth driven organization, WYGG believes that continuity in governance is not a weakness but a strength, when the leadership in question has proven its worth. Experience matters. Institutional memory matters. The ability to start, sustain, and complete developmental initiatives matters. Hon. Uroye embodies these laudable qualities.

We therefore call on party faithfuls, stakeholders, and the general public to support this vision of continuity. Let us choose progress over uncertainty, results over promises, experimentation. and proven leadership over experimentation.

In closing, this is more than an endorsement, it is a call to action. A call to sustain a legacy of service. A call to deepen the gains already made. A call to trust a man whose work has quietly but firmly shaped the 'trajectory of Warri South Constituency 1.
