Facilitators plead  for extension as NCDMB training on  engine maintenance, boat building, navigation ends in Warri

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has been urged to extend the five - day training programme on marine engine maintenance, navigation, boat building and safety, which ended in Warri, Delta State, Friday May 29.

 

The training, which was sponsored by the NCDMB, in collaboration with Cosmosparks Engineering Limited, held at the facility of National Inland Waterways Authority in Warri, from Monday May 25 to Friday May 29.

 

One of the facilitators, Mr. Amaechi Ogbonna, who spoke to Fresh Angle International during the closing ceremony Friday May 29, appealed to the management of NCDMB, to extend the training for another two weeks.

According to Mr. Ogbonna, there should be additional one week training on boat building and another one week for full navigation.

 

He thanked the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe and other staff of NCDMB, for sponsorship of the programme, which he said was first of its kind in Warri area.

 

Another facilitator, Mr. Charles Lori, who spoke in the same vein, said the extension was necessary, to enable the participants acquire licence that would enable them secure employment and ultimately reduce the manpower shortage in the marine and blue economy.

The Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, who was represented by Mr. Kingsley Neyin, charged the participants to put the knowledge gained during the five - day training into productive use.

 

The NCDMB Boss, encourageed the trainees, to register their trades in the board's website, in order for their businesses to be captured in NCDMB's data base, for further training opportunities.

Another official of NCDMB, Mrs. Temisan Eguando, in her remarks, said Engr. Ogbe, initiated back - to - the - creeks project, to encourage elders and youths of the Niger Delta to develop skills, saying marine transportation is a big business waiting to be explored.

 

Our Co Publisher/ Managing Editor, reports that one of the participants, Mr. Ossaianagba Bernard, commended NCDMB and Cosmosparks Engineering Limited for the opportunity, saying the training has enabled him understand what 4 - spark plug and 2 - spark plug engines are.
