The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Delta Province 5 has concluded plans to set up vocational training centres in all resettlement camps in Delta State with a view to engaging the flood victims to enable them start up businesses when the flood completely recedes in their communities.
Head of I Care for Flood Victims “flooded but not defeated”, Mr. George Orogun made the disclosure Thursday October 25 at Okwagbe, Ughelli South local government area before leading other members of the I Care Unit of the church to donate consumables and other basic amenities valued at millions of naira to the internally displaced persons.
Items donated include 30 bags of rice, 2 bags of beans, 25 cartons of Gala, 350 buckets, 400pairs of slippers, 450 drinking cups, 50 cartons of Indomie noodles, 2 bags of sugar, 2 bags of salt, insecticide, drugs, disinfectants, 3 bags of garri, yam, plastic mat as well as 30 bags of new and fairly used clothes.
According to Mr. Orogun, who is also an aide to Delta State governor, the donation of the items was made possible with the support of corporate organizations like United Bank for Africa as well as an unidentified male Muslim who contributed 2 million naira.
The Area Pastor of RCCG Mega Parish, Pastor Bola Salami in an exaltation warned that anyone who “diverts any of the relief materials faces poisoning because the items have been prayed for”.
Assistant Director of the camp, Mr. Charles Omene who received the items commended RCCG and prayed God to bless them.
