Sanitation: I’m saddened by the compliance level -Tidi

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Michael Tidi has expressed sadness at the level of compliance during the monthly environmental sanitation period of today, Saturday February 24, saying his administration is poised to rejig the environmental sanitation architecture of the council.

Hon. Tidi who spoke shortly after monitoring the exercise, disclosed that as part of strategies to improve the general sanitary condition in Warri South Local Government, his administration will introduce an annual award for the cleanest community in the local government area.

He noted that Community Taskforce Chairmen will be encouraged to pick a day in each month as environmental sanitation in line with the same policy approach already adopted for major markets in Warri.

Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government , Hon. (Mrs.) Divine Iniovosa in an interview admonished traders, especially women to always comply with sanitation orders.

Hon. Tidi, his Vice, Mrs. Iniovosa, the Council’s Supervisor for Environment, Patricia Edun, Warri South Council Head of Personel Management, Mrs. Remi Omatsuli, members of the newly inaugurated Warri South Local Government Sanitation/Beautification Committee led by Johnson Diawan, Personal Assistant to Hon. Tidi on Environment, Dairo Aritetsoma and officails of the Council Environment Department, supervised the evacuation of refuse along the NPA Expressway after Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri as well as Ubeji, Ifie and Egbokodo communities, including Ugbuwangue and Igbudu Markets in Warri.

Traders and residents were directed to clean up their surroundings , while a filling station selling fuel at Ubeji was directed to shutdown during the sanitation period.
