Crises brew in Warri over ownership of land occupied by Hausa traders

There are palpable fears of a major crises brewing in the Igbudu area of  Warri, Delta State between Hausa settlers in the area and the late Chief Sam Warri Essi Idesoh family over who owns the land popularly known as Hausa quarters, Fresh Angle investigation has revealed.
While the Hausa traders  admitted that the parcel of land was originally leased to them in 1954 by the late Chief Sam Warri Essi Idesoh for 60 years with option to renew on annual basis , they equally sent an SOS message to Fresh Angle where they claimed that “by virtue and under the Warri Divisional Council Planning Law order 1961 as amended by Town Planning Scheme, Igbudu order 1972, the Bendel Development and Planning Authority, BDPA acquired a free simple interest in the parcel of land situated at Igbudu, Warri”.
According to the Hausa traders, BDPA granted them retention, while titled document were prepared for them as government tenants and therefore wondered why they received letters from one Omoyibo Essi Idesoh with the title “notice of forfeiture of lease and re-entry to land,” directing them to give up the disputed land within 30 days.
Counsel to Omoyibo Essi Idesoh wrote a letter  to the Hausa Community in Igbudu expressing their reservation in apparent  response to a counter petition earlier written by the Hausa Community  to Delta Development and Property Authority, DDPA who inherited assets  from BDPA.
Omoyibo Essi Idesoh’s counsel described the Hausa Community’s  letter to DDPA “as a direct opposite of the overtures of amicable settlement hitherto offered to the Hausa Community” stating  that it is “a denial of his client’s reversionary interest and title and only hopes that they are aware of the legal implication.”
Fresh Angle gathered that the disputed land is measuring approximately 600ft to the North, 413ft to the South, 200ft to the South East, 674ft to the East and 672ft to the West.
The Hausa Community in an SOS sent to Fresh Angle which formed a part of the petition they forwarded to the General Manager of Delta Development and Property Authority, Asaba claimed that they are no longer tenants to the late Chief Sam Warri Essi Idesoh but Delta State government.
