Ahead of the much anticipated Population Census in Nigeria, a team of over 80 Supervisors/Demarcators, on Monday November 25, commenced a week-long training in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area in Delta State.

The week-long exercise, which is for Phase 9 of Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD, would enable the trainees strengthen their capacity in terms of carving compact areas, that would be convenient for set of enumerators to count during census.
The trainees will also be primed to commence 21 days field work from December 2, this year.
Delta State Director of National Population Commission, NPC, Comrade Sunday Ezeana, in his opening remarks, noted that the Commission places high premium on excellence, hence shoddy job will not be tolerated in the name of Enumeration Area, EA.
While noting that E A is becoming more technological/digital, Comrade Ezeana, urged the Supervisors/ Demarcators for the E A D, to exercise absolute decorum during the training and ensure that they identify buildings properly, before writing during the field work.

State-Coordinator for the training, Onipede Peter Olasunkanmi, emphasized the need for participants to be punctual during the weeklong drill.
Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, who was represented by Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, assured that his administration will provide the necessary support for the weeklong exercise and other field aspects, geared towards a successful as well as accurate head-count.
Dr. Tidi explained that his administration was already working towards creating proper data base in Warri South Local Government Area, because of the believe that accurate data enhances good governance and improves the security situation.
