Ugborikoko leadership crisis claims three lives, several others injured

Business

No fewer than three persons have been reported dead and several others injured following the leadership crisis that have engulfed Ugborikoko community in Uvwie local government, Delta State.

Our Correspondent reports that the crisis was triggered by the refusal of the immediate past taskforce chairman of the community identified simply as Randy to step down at the completion of his second tenure.

Fresh Angle gathered that a former councilor who represented Ugborikoko ward in Uvwie local government legislative arm in the last political dispensation is among casualties of the crisis which has become recurrent in the community.

Reports say not even the intervention of Uvwie Monarch, His Majesty, Emmanuel Sideso Abe I has stopped the crisis as residents of the area still live in fear despite the seeming seizature of open hostilities.

The Monarch allegedly told the out- gone chairman, Randy to step down, but it fell on deaf ears, because he is allegedly getting the backing of some chiefs and Ugborikoko community leaders.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Uvwie local government, Mr. Bright Edejegoh had reportedly sworn- in a newly elected community chairman late July this year with a directive on the new youth chairman to conduct fresh election to fill vacant positions.
