The Managing Director of Avenue 3 Mediator, Mr. Omena Daniels in conjunction with Rebone Brand Creations, Johannesburg, South Africa has revealed plans to host “Delta 100”.

Mr. Daniels dropped the hint when he addressed newsmen at the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, secretariat in Asaba, Delta State.

The legal practitioner cum journalist explained that “Delta 100” which stands for excellence, motivation and service, is not about award to persons who do not deserve it but to “ tell the stories of 100 distinguished people who have excelled in their chosen fields in-spite of all odds”.

Mr. Daniels, who said the event will hold between January and February 2014, said there are six categories for nominations. According to him, the categories are:  entertainment and sports, painters, sculptors and artistes, politics and leadership, commerce and industry, the peoples champion ( human rights activist) as well as the extra ordinary people ( those who care for the orphanage).

He said the criteria for qualification to the “Delta 100” is that persons nominated must be of Delta origin (both paternally and maternally) must have distinguished themselves nationally, internationally or locally and they must be acknowledged in their locality amongst others.

He also noted that persons not qualified for nomination are those who have been “convicted of crime against humanity in Nigeria or in Diaspora”, those who have renounced their nationality or Delta State of origin as well as those who have no affinity with Nigeria.

The facilitator bemoaned  the idea  where some Nigerian parents in the Hague teach their children that “ it is a crime to be a Nigerian” stressing that “ Delta 100” will be different from every other award ceremonies because it aims to identify with persons who have excellent and successful stories to tell by making Nigerians proud.
