Okowa, NPHCDA offer free medical services to Oshimili North

The two day free medical services rendered to the people of Oshimili North Local Government Area,  Delta State, by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) in partnership with Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Chairman Senate Committee on Health has ended with the beneficiaries commending the organizers for providing succor to the masses of the area.

The event took place simultaneously in all the primary health care centres in Ibusa, Okpanam, Illah, and Ebu, and with each centre manned by three Medical Doctors as well as other support medical personnel to facilitate their professional services.

At the Primary Health Care Centre, Ntoka Road, Okpanam,  the Unit Supervisory and Deputy Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Steve Akinnrinade disclosed that the programme started about two months ago, and that Oshimili North was the 9th Local Government Area the organization has visited and offered the free medical services in Delta State,  adding that other council areas will be visited in due course.

The Deputy Director stated that, “apart from admission, all available medical services were rendered to the patients, including laboratory tests and provision of drugs free of charge to the people.

A patient at the Primary Health Care Centre, Okpanam, Mrs. Joy Ajudua said, "we wish that the organization will continue to provide this type of comprehensive free treatment at least thrice annually to alleviate the suffering of the masses, " while quantifying the drugs given to her, she said it could be in the neighbourhood of about 7,000 in a private hospital.

It will recall that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had flagged off the free health care programme at Idumuje-Unor, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State in August 2014.
