DESOPADEC: Delta government releases IJAG 14 protesters 24 hrs after arrest

The Delta State Government has ordered the release of 14 members of Itsekiri Joint Action Group, IJAG who were arrested by the Police Monday November 2 at the Corporate Office of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC in Warri during a protest against perceived marginalization of Itsekiri in the Commission.

The State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro who waded into the issue, ordered the release of the 14 IJAG members who were arrested by the Police on the orders of the Area, Commander Warri, Muazu Muhammed, promised that the State Government will address the grievances of the protesters this Friday November 6, 2015.

Three of the 14 protesters, who were released Tuesday November 3 at Asaba, Adah Duakpemi, Comrade Otikpere Precious and Ajemijeroma Mene Ejegi, HOSTCOM Youth Vice Chairman, Itsekiri Chapter, narrated their experience to Fresh Angle International in Warri on arrival from Asaba. They appealed to the State Government to address the 7-point demands of IJAG.
