Business

The palpable tension in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC took fresh twist yesterday, April 26 following the invitation of the Managing Director of the Commission, Olorogun Williams Makinde, the Executive Director of Projects, Philip Gbasim, Executive Director of Research, Planning and Statistics, Engr. Victor Wood, Executive Director of Socials, Hon. Ocho Ochor by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

An impeccable source told Fresh Angle International that another member of the Board who has severally been invited by the anti graft commission sequel to several petitions, Hon. Askiah Ogieh, Chairman of DESOPADEC Board, Hon. Toritsereju Ebosa, representative of Ijaw ethnic Nationality at the Commission as well as his Itsekiri counterpart, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, were also among top Board members that were invited by the EFCC as a result of different petitions regarding alleged corruption in DESOPADEC.

While the DESOPADEC MD, Olorogun Williams Makinde and Hon. Askiah Ogieh failed to honour yesterday’s invitation because they are currently outside the country, unconfirmed report also says one of the ethnic representative in the Board was detained by the EFCC and later granted bail same day.

The Itsekiri Leaders of Thought had on Monday April 25 petitioned the Delta State House of Assembly over perceived irrelevant and lopsided projects allocated to the Itsekiri Nation in the commission’s 2016 budget before the State House of Assembly, while some members of HOSTCOM from different ethnic Nationalities in the State yesterday stormed the State House of Assembly protesting against corruption in the Commission.
