Bayelsa State Health workers have shifted their intended strike action over half payment of salaries since January this year by the Federal Government to tomorrow, Tuesday May 10, Our Bayelsa Correspondent reports.
Speaking to Our Correspondent weekend, the Unit Branch Chairman of Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Comrade Oginike Lanta said the Union is demanding the complete payment of their salaries in arrears, non-repeat of half payment of salaries and inclusion of the Union to Information Payroll System (IPS), which all federal agencies and parastatal are injected to.
Other Health workers who spoke to Fresh Angle International on condition of anonymity said the Union have earlier given the Federal Government a 15-day ultimatum and another 7 days extension which expired Thursday May 5.
The source said the decision to extend the date for the strike action to Tuesday this week was the outcome of a congress held on the 3rd of this month.
