The Chairman of Uvwie local Government Council in Delta State, Mrs. Stella Daboner recently along the ever busy Effurun/PTI Express Road assaulted some staff of Delta State Transport Management Authority, DESTMA and slapped one of them, Mr. Prefa Samuel.
The incident which took place in front of former Woodridge Hotel forced the road traffic maintenance personnel to leave the scene after solving the traffic gridlock problem on the road occasioned by youths who blocked and prevented the council boss from continuing her free passage for undisclosed reasons.
Fresh Angle International gathered that after publicly disgracing the uniform DESTMA personnel, she allegedly went to apologize to Prefa Samuel who, of cause was very angry and felt disgraced.
It was further learnt that haven realized her mistake, she drove to the Warri office of DESTMA again but met the absence of the boss who she also wanted to apologize to.
DESTMA staffers on hearing of the matter that was duly reported to their boss but failed to take any step to assuage their ill-feeling were said to have abandoned work for the rest of the day.
The DESTMA which was recently inaugurated and supported by law duly passed by the state House of Assembly is meant to regulate and ensure road/traffic compliance with powers to arrest and fine defaulters and any culprit irrespective of status, even as it is another way of generating revenue for the State government apart from ensuring good driving culture.
