Suspected militants Sunday night (July 30) allegedly attacked a military gun boat, killing two soldiers and reportedly made away with military gun boat along the Benin River axis of Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State, Our Roving Correspondent reports.
The incident reportedly occurred around Orogun and Ogbiror communities along the Atlantic Coast.
Details of the incident remain very sketchy as both the military and police authorities declined to confirm or deny the death of the soldiers as well as the loss of the gunboat, even as the ugly development has dominated public discourse in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area and the 19 Battallion Nigeria Army.
Meanwhile, some youths have been arrested in connection with the gory incident, while interrogation is ongoing.
It would be recalled that four Marine Police Officers were also killed along that axis of the Benin River recently.
