Your kangaroo arrangement breaches Ugborodo Constitution, Botosan blasts Oboroegbeyi’s leadership
Mr. Isaac Botosan

Purported Legal Adviser to the controversially constituted 10-man Governing Trust Council of Ugborodo Community and former Vice-Chairman of Ugborodo Community Trust, Mr. Isaac Botosan, says the newly constituted “Governing Trust Council of Ugborodo Community is a kangaroo set-up that cannot stand the test of time”, because, “it is in clear breach of the Community Trust Constitution”.

Mr. Botosan who said he went for an election for the Chairmanship position of the Governing Council Trust, Saturday August 3, 2019, said he was taken aback, “when a few leaders in the community prevailed on him to step down for one Mr. Austin Oboroegbeyi, which burgled and thwarted my ambition”.

He pointed out that he insisted on due process and democratic practice in tandem with modern global practices, saying, “without an election, such a body should be regarded as unconstitutional and therefore, a kangaroo arrangement that undermines the provisions of the Ugborodo Community Constitution”.

According to him, “the totality of it all is that delegates from the constituent units of the entire Ugborodo did not vote or be voted for  on the election day”, in other words, the provisions of the Ugborodo Constitution was jettisoned and reduced to an irrelevant piece of paper without a legal bite.

He therefore called  for the “conduct of another election in the fundamental interest of the norms and values of democracy in Ugborodo Community, because the so-called election of August 3rd 2019, cannot stand the test of time anywhere”.

According to Botosan, for the Ugborodo Community Management Committee to stand, “the Community Trust Council must not be in place or constituted”, advising that “the Oboroegbeyi Management Committee should continue in office by extension, rather than calling it Ugborodo Community Trust, because the Ugborodo Community Management Committee is by appointment, while the Trust is through election by its members. So what was inaugurated on August 3, was a Management Committee, because it was done by appointment and not election”.

He expressed shock that he was appointed “Legal Adviser in the illegal Governing Trust”, when he is neither a lawyer, nor possess a legal background, saying, “it only goes to show their level of desperation and extent of illegality in their bid to install a kangaroo trust”.
