Warri Economic Summit: Tidi explains targets, lists gains of maiden edition


Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, says the second edition of Warri Economic Summit billed for 9:00am Wednesday October 2, at Brown Hill Event Centre, Ogunu-Warri, is targeted at promoting sustainable Agricultural development, reducing over-dependence on the monthly receipt from Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC and ultimately drawing up a road-map for the development of Warri.

 

Dr. Tidi gave the explanation Monday September 30, at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, during a media parley organized by the Warri Economic Summit Group, in conjunction with Warri South Local Government Council.

The Warri South Council Chief Executive who declared that Warri is now more peaceful than Port-Harcourt, disclosed plans to incorporate sister-local government councils in the resolve to positively change the narrative of Warri, which is Delta State Commercial nerve centre.

 

While expressing optimism that a more economically viable Warri, will improve the socio-economic life of the state, Dr. Tidi mentioned the on-going revitalization of Warri Port through sustainable advocacy, commencement of operation of SIFAX Group in Warri Port and fresh investment to reinvigorate the famous Erejuwa Playground in the heart of Warri, as some of the positive impacts of the maiden Warri Economic Summit held in 2018.

The Chairman of Warri Economic Summit Group, Barr. Emmanuel Jakpa spoke extensively on the likely gains of the summit, particularly as it affects youths in Warri area and the need to gravitate their minds toward creating investors-friendly environment.

 

Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who graced the first Warri Economic Summit in 2018, will be the special guest of honour in this year's edition.
