We the Change Makers Forum write to appeal to the Inspector General of police and Commissioner of Police in Delta State to please see that the continuous extortion of commercial biker riders in Ogwashi-Ukwu capital of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State stops.
Ogwashi-Ukwu is a Student Community where the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Ukwu is located and due to the facts students have to economize to manage the money given to them by their parents you see them climbing two on a bike while some them even make end means by riding the bikes to sponsor themselves to school.
Also we the innocent passengers who board these bikes are the ones who suffer these extortions by police officers and traffic wardens on a daily basis because the bike riders would charge us exorbitant fees to our destinations claiming that they would have to settle policemen and traffic wardens.
Even poor farmers who transport their goods to the various markets in communities in Aniocha south are not left out of these inhuman treatment by policemen and traffic wardens.
What puzzles us the most is that these officers force people to part with their hard earned monies making it a most that they must pay otherwise they would be detained until their passengers are forced to leave the poor bike riders to their own fate with these policemen which makes us to now ask if the police is truly our friends?
