Sowore: You are sending anti-democratic signal, Odeli tackles FG
Mr. Omoyele Sowore

Delta-born crusader for good governance and community development, Prince David Odeli, has accused the Federal Government of sending anti-democratic signal, as a result of the continuous detention of pro-democracy campaigner, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, after a court of competent jurisdiction ordered the Department of Security Service, DSS, to release him.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Tuesday September 24, ordered the DSS to release Omoyele Sowore, the detained convener of “Revolution Now” protest.

David Odeli in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International Thursday October 3, averred that the continuous detention of Sowore by the DSS on a, “trumped-up” charge of treason after the court order explicitly directed that Sowore surrender his International Passport to Chief Register of the Court, is, “not just an act of impunity, but anti-democratic”.

The Warri North Community leader, opined that it was double standard for the DSS to obey the court’s earlier order to detain Sowore for 45 days and disobey a fresh order for his release, saying the action by the security agency calls for concern, especially against the backdrop of speculations of move to propagate a third term agenda.

Prince Odeli warned that if Sowore, a Presidential Candidate in the general elections held earlier this year, is not immediately released, it will trigger rebellion across the country and encourage impunity, even as he noted that the DSS had the right to press charges, but set Sowore free while the court hearing continues.
