The Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Joseph Otirhue, has tasked Pharmacists in the State and in Nigeria in general, to shun practices capable of bringing the individual and corporate image of the profession into disrepute.

The Public Relations Officer of Delta State Local Government Commission, Asaba, Eva Mallam-Obi, reports that Otirhue, gave the charge, when he co-chaired the celebration of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria Week.

Otirhue, posited that the role of Pharmacists in the efficient delivery of health services to the people, especially in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, cannot be over-emphasized.

He said Pharmacists in conjunction with other health service providers, have continued to play significant role in the fight against deadly diseases that have taken the lives of millions of people around the globe.

While encouraging them to keep up with the fast evolving world of drug manufacturing, distribution and administration, The Delta LG Commission Chairman, advised that policy formulation and implementation at the regional and national levels, should be in tandem with the global practices.

The Commission Boss, who was recognized for the roles he had played in the upliftment of the Pharmacy profession in the State and beyond, urged all and sundry to support the Association in the set-goal of promoting the image of the profession, adding that Pharmacists are increasingly seen as a reliable force in man's fight against diseases.

The Chairman of the Association, Pharm. (Dr.) Mrs. Evangeline Enaike, while welcoming guests, said, the AHAPN Delta week celebration commenced Sunday June 27, with a Thanksgiving Service held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Okpanam, Delta State, where members appreciated God for His protection during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She revealed the unveiling and launching of the 4th edition of the Association's magazine "The Pharmacist" and the Association's Bus.

In her speech, she said that the theme for the week is "Stress: The silent killer; Its management "was selected because the average Nigerian is overwhelmed with situations that trigger stress.
