Ahead Planned Invasion: Ugborodo community petitions Chief of Naval Staff

Ahead of the ultimatum given by the Navy Command in Delta State that all persons displaced from Ode-Ugborodo in the prolonged fratricidal leadership crisis that has hit Ugborodo Community (Ode-Ugborodo, Mandangho, Ogidigben, Ajudaibo and Ija-ghala) the Ugborodo Elders’ Council have petitioned the Chief of Naval Staff, stressing that its internal crisis cannot  be resolved by force.

A copy of the petition scooped by Fresh Angle and signed by the Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo/Chairman, Ugborodo Elders’ Council, Eghare Wellington O. Ojoghor and Secretary, Ugborodo Elders’ Council, Pa. Francis A. Uwawah stated that Ugborodo people are “capable of solving their problems by themselves without any timeline”.

According to the petition, “no person(s) was displaced from Ode-Ugborodo rather people were displaced from Ajudaibo and Ogidigben”, even as it noted that assuming anyone was displaced from Ode-Ugborodo, such a person(s) “ought to appease the deities of the community in accordance with the tradition and custom of Ugborodo people for the sacrilegious acts they committed”.

The Ugborodo Elders’ Council also noted that its road map to peace was well stated on the 21st day of June 2014 to the Chairman and members of the Peace Committee at a meeting held in Ugborodo, but stated that “it is unfortunate that nothing has been heard from the Chairman of the EPZ Interface Committee”.

The Naval Authority, NSS Delta had in a meeting held Saturday August 2, 2014 with members of Ugborodo Community instructed that Mr. Dube Omadeli, Olaja-Orori of Ugborodo tocontinue to dialogue with Chief Thomas Ereyitomi and Chief Ayirimi Emami on one hand and Hon. David Tonwe on the other hand as well as Chairman of the EPZ Committee, Bar. Austin Oboroegbeyi.

The Naval Authority in the meeting which held at NNS Delta, Warri also ordered “those displaced persons must return to their respective communities”, warning “that failure to allow the people (sic) return will attract stiff consequences against the people of Ode-Ugborodo”.
