The National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, Novena University Chapter,, has applauded the visit of Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Colonel Milland Dikio ( Rtd.) to Novena University, Ogume in Delta State, describing the Presidential Amnesty Boss as a true statesman, desirous of fairness in the implementation of the programme.
In a statement signed by the President, Tedeye Oritseghomi, Secretary, Morrison Otikpere and Public Relations Officer, Beecroft Uliyemi of NAIS, Novena University Chapter, the Itsekiri students' body, posited that Colonel Dikio's visit, which was the first by any Administrator of PAP to the fast growing institution, further attests to the Interim Administrator's resolve to pursue transparency and accountability in - line with President Muhammadu Buhari's agenda.
The Itsekiri students, assured Colonel Dikio that they will remain steadfast in their study and continually work with authorities of the institution to sustain the peaceful teaching and learning environment.
They commended the management of Novena University, for making the working visit of the Presidential Amnesty Boss a success and urged Colonel Dikio not to be distracted in his determination to ensure equity and fairness in the implementation of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
NAIS, appealed to Colonel Dikio, to do everything possible to fast -track the payment of allowances to students of Itsekiri extraction in the programme, who are yet to be paid their allowances, to mitigate their sufferings and boost their morale to study harder.
"Contrary to the erroneous impressions that were being deliberately generated by antagonists to the programme and hirelings, fronting for certain vested interests that all the students in NOVENA University were ghosts and that all the courses offered at NOVENA University were not accredited by the authorities of the national University commission and other regulatory bodies,the amnesty boss has seen for himself in the report presented to him by no one less than the Vice Chancellor of the school that all courses in NOVENA University up to PHD level, have accreditation. It is therefore on the basis of this that we wish to most sincerely thank Col . Dikkio for this historic visit and the starling revelations personally witnessed by him and to appeal that all those on the said itsekiri list whose payment, have not been made, be speedily done to enable them enjoy the same privileges that their colleagues on the same list and programme across the length and breadth of the Niger Delta in various University are already enjoying", the statement, stressed.
