How we packaged, sold Buhari to Nigerian electorates – Amaechi
Mr. Rotimi Amaechi,

Former Rivers State Governor and Director General of All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Organization during the last general elections, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has given insight on how the party packaged and sold President Muhammadu Buhari to the electorates.

Amaechi, who spoke during RED Summit Gala night celebration at the weekend in Lagos, said the campaign team took some risks and deployed uncommon tactics to beat their opponents in the election.

Amaechi added that the campaign team took some risks with executives of RED Communications, a Public Relations and Communications giant to defeat a ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and dethrone a sitting president .

According to him, the roles Adebola Williams and Chude Jideonwo played in the last presidential campaign which led to the election of President Muhammadu Buhari cannot be overemphasized.

He said, “I took a risk with Chude and Adebola to handle the presidential campaign and they did a great job. I thank Adebola Williams and Chude Jideonwo for taking that responsibility of handling the presidential campaign.

“They sold our candidate to Nigerians against popular opinion. They got President Buhari to wear a suit, something he hadn’t done for over 30 years and that was one of the biggest highlights of the campaign. Those images broke barriers and sold the man.”

“We always say God won the election but their role cannot be overemphasized. They created an impression that we had money, made the other people to be afraid and think we could match them money for money but we really couldn’t. It was their creativity. I thank them and wish them the very best.”

RED Summit is West Africa’s largest omni-media gathering that brings together stakeholders in various segments of the media across the African continent to explore new trends in a rapidly changing landscape.
