In a bid to end the abandonment of projects in Itsekiri land, the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, have resolved to include community leaders in the supervision of projects, after the award of new contracts in Itsekiri communities of Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
Our Principal Correspondent, reports that this much was made public in Warri, Tuesday August 15, by the Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, ED PRS of DESOPADEC, Hon. Nicholas Efele and the Commissioner representing Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality in DESOPADEC, Hon. Sunny Ofe, during day-three of the town- hall meetings between stakeholders and DESOPADEC, held for Itsekiri Communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area.
While Hon. Efele, charged Trust executive of communities, elders and Youth executives, in Itsekiri communities to change their behavioral patterns, in order to stop abandonment of DESOPADEC projects in Itsekiri land, Hon. Ofe, declared: “Any Itsekiri host community, where DESOPADEC projects are sited and the contractors are not working to specification, have the right to stop the substandard jobs and drag the contractors to the Commission for a meeting.”

Hon. Efele, reiterated DESOPADEC’s plan to establish economy hubs, which will attract people to Itsekiri Communities for socio-economic activities.
