Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr, Michael Tidi, has warned that the public education system in the country will go into extinction, if urgent measures are not taken, to ensure that teaching and non-teaching staff in the system take their jobs seriously and other critical stakeholders play their role in redirecting the course.

Our Senior Roving Correspondent, reports that Dr. Tidi, raised the concern at the King George Hall, Warri South Council Sub-Secretariat in Warri, Thursday December 14, while flagging off a one-day orientation exercise for newly recruited 130 teaching and non-teaching staff of Public Primary Schools in Warri South Local Government Area.

While charging the newly recruited staff of public primary schools in Warri South to be passionate about their work, the Warri South Local Government Boss, said the future of children in primary schools, lies in the hands of teachers, noting that primary education is the foundation of all education.

“Take every pupil as yours, this job is not for any man or woman, this is a job for the future of our country”

Dr. Tidi also lamented the level of lawlessness in our education system, whereby children in both primary and secondary school engage in cult activities.

“We are working with government and appropriate stakeholders to ensure that security is provided for our teachers, even as they discipline our kids”, he noted.

The Education Secretary, Warri South Local Government, Augusta Omatsone, in her welcome address, stated: “We are here to raise models of excellence for our pupils.”
