The authorities of Warri South Local Government Council, have dragged the Manager of Peemos Hotel, Warri and two others to the Magistrate Court II, sitting at the Police A’ Division premises in Warri, for allegedly constituting environmental nuisance.

The Head of Environment Department, Warri South Local Government Council, Mrs. Stella Mode, who made the disclosure this morning, to Our Correspondent, while supervising the council’s clean-up exercise along the Ugbuwangue-New Port Gate axis of the NPA Expressway, said the three sanitation offenders, were to appear before the court today.

According to Mrs. Mode, Peemos Hotel, was dragged to court, because the hotel had no Private Sector Participation, PSP in terms of waste management, showed no evidence of last fumigation exercise and its soakaway facility, is filled.

She also disclosed that the two other sanitation offenders (females) one at Apala Street in Warri and the other operating ‘eating house’ along Shell Contractor’s Road, also in Warri, were being prosecuted for discharging water waste on the road and cooking in dirty environment.

Mrs. Mode, explained that the ongoing clean-up exercise along the NPA Expressway by Ugbuwangue/New Port Gate axis, being carried out by staffers of the Council’s Environment Department, was targeted at identifying the causes of stagnant water along the road.

Whilst noting that the council’s truck was at Okumagba Estate Roundabout, evacuating waste, the Warri South Council Head of Environment Department, said the clean-up exercise at the pedestrian walkway, close to A&E Filling Station in Ugbuwangue, will be extended to old MRS.

Mrs. Mode, commended the Warri South Council Head of Personnel Management, Mr. Augustine Akaeze and Treasurer to Local Government, Mr. Ugborugbo Moses, for constantly mobilizing staffers of the Environment Department, for the daily environmental sanitation exercise.
