The resolve to execute standard drainages at Ekurede Itsekiri and Cinema Site in Okumagbe Avenue, both in Warri metropolis and the plan to give bursary to 1,000 students in tertiary institutions, highlighted the outcome of Warri South Executive Council meeting held Thursday August 29.
Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, who made the disclosure in a chat with newsmen at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, shortly after the meeting, noted that exco also discussed the imperatives of fast-tracking the on-going construction of two abattoirs and cold room in Pessu Market and commence construction of the section of Igbudu Market, recently gutted by fire.
Hon. Edafiadjebre, also noted that the old UCC Road at Igbudu Market, was also given serious attention during the meeting, assuring that the Comr. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro administration of Warri South Local Government, is poised to deliver efficient grassroots governance.
Warri South Council Supervisor of Human Capital Development, Mrs. Misan Eke, who also briefed newsmen, said that apart from the recent empowerment progammme carried out by the Agbateyiniro administration, senior citizens of Warri South Local Government, who are above 65years, will be incorporated in subsequent empowerment initiative.
Mrs. Eke, added: “150 youths will be going for training and we are also looking at 1,000 students from Warri South Local Government Area for Bursary.”
The Supervisor for Health, Hon. Deduwa Ese Gift, on his part, averred: “We have gone to 10 health centres in Warri South, we will go to the others and the riverine areas. A comprehensive report will be given to the Chairman for vetting and see where the local government can come in, especially the infrastructural area, so as to give the health centres facelift.”
The Head of Environment Department in Warri South Local Government Council, Mrs. Stella Mode, who spoke to newsmen on efforts by the Agbateyiniro administration to clean up and beautify Warri South Local Government Area, explained: “We are meeting with the private waste collectors (PSP). We are going to profile them and know where they need us to come in. We are going to use two zones in Warri to start the waste bin collection project. When we are done with the PSP, we will roll out the waste bins.”
