Delta State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Kelly Kalanama Penawou, says Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has done very well in terms of execution of multiple infrastructural projects and concrete plans to commence construction of people-driven legacy projects.

Prince Penawou, gave the commendation Wednesday November 27, after a tour of a plethora of projects executed by the Comr. Agbateyiniro administration of Warri South Local Government Area and the commissioning of a three-link fencing and beautification of the Ugbuwangue axis of the busy N.P.A Expressway in Warri.

The Commissioner, who described the Warri South Council Boss, as a proactive young man, prayed God to give him the wisdom to execute all the projects earmarked for construction in the weeks and months ahead.

Prince Penawou, who was conducted round the different projects by the Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre and Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Emmanuel Nunu, was led to the take-off point of a sixty-meter bridge to connect the island aspect of Ifie-kporo community, a 20,000 square meter land proposed for construction of ranch at Merogun, the completed abattoir and coldroom projects at Pessu Market, failed portions of roads in Warri fixed by the Agbateyiniro administration, the burnt section of Igbudu Market, the completed Omadino/Obodo Road as well as several canalization projects, also executed by the Comr. The Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, who spoke to newsmen after the inspection visits, stated: “I want to give thanks to God Almighty and the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for giving us the opportunity to serve in this capacity.

“I also want to appreciate the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Kelly Kalanama Penawou, for taking his time to come to Warri to see the things first hand that we have done.

“This is to tell you that we have not come to play, rather we have come to serve the good people of Warri South and I do not think we are biting more than we can chew.

“By the special grace of God, all the projects we have embarked on, those that are on-going, those that we about to flagg-off before the end of this year or January, we will finish them.”

The Head of Works Department of Warri South Local Government Council, Engr. Tetsola Tuoyo Greggory, had explained to the Commissioner that soil testing for the sixty-meter bridge at Ifie-kporo, was already conducted, adding that the Council intends to flag-off “the legacy project this December.”

Engr. Tetsola, also told Prince Penawou and his delegation that the Agbateyiniro administration, was clearing the median of the Ugbuwangue axis of the NPA Expressway and doing landscaping, so as to plant flowers on the side of the road and erect Christmas decoration for the yuletide.

He added: “The ranch at Merogun, we have a 20,000 square meter space. It goes very far, we are going to put a fencing here for their cows to be able to stay in a confined space, so that they can use it as their ranch.

They will move their livestock from here down to the abattoir at Pessu Market, instead of coming all the way from Effurun.

“We want them to be in-line with the state government legislature, banning open grazing.

We are also planning on bringing a bank here and as we speak, work is already going on, people are clearing the place for the ranch. We are planning on building three offices here and some accommodation. This project will start December.”

An elder of Ifiekporo Community, who was apparently delighted with the bridge project, averred: “This is what we have been expecting for a very long time now. This place has been like this for a long time now and is making it difficult for us to cross to the other side.

“We will appreciate if a bridge can be constructed here, because this river leads to Ugbomeji, that is the main Warri River, where ships pass to N.PA.”
