Tension is mounting in Warri, Delta State, following the reported murder of one Dele Ogunbayo, by ‘Men dressed in Military uniform’, Fresh Angle International, can report.

Though details of the unfortunate development, were still sketchy as at 10.40am Thursday September 18 when this report was filed, the said Dele Ogunbayo, a vigilante, was traced to his house in the Pessu area of Warri, at about 1.00am today and shot by the ‘Men in Military Uniform’, even though there was no indication that he exchanged fire with the ‘Men in Military Uniform’.

According to Sources in the area, Dele, tried to escape with injuries sustained from the gunshots fired by the ‘Men in Military Uniform’, but the blood-tasty men, who were said to be masked, followed the blood-stain track of Dele to a spot within the vicinity, where they reportedly fired him to death, wrapped his lifeless body with tarpaulin and went away with the corpse.

It was unclear what would have made the ‘uniform men’ unleash such brutality on a vigilante, said to have been unarmed as at the time of the attack, just as some residents in Warri declared that even if a crime was committed by Dele Ogunbayo, it is the Police that has the constitutional responsbility to arrest and prosecute him, not ‘Men in Military Uniform’.

The leadership of Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths, UIY, who dashed to the scene this morning in anger, alleged that the unknown ‘Men in Military Uniform’ went to Ajamimogha and Ekurede Communities in Warri, after killing Dele and purportedly shot sporadically into the air, for reasons unknown as at the time of this report.

The President of Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths, Okotie Joseph, while speaking to a Military personnel this morning in Pessu area, stated: “I just came to ascertain what happened, but no matter what happens, nobody has the monopoly to take another person’s life. If the man has a questionable character, it should be demanded for by the community executive to present him to the appropriate authority.

“The manner in which the forces came last night, was something else, Itsekiri Nation, Warri Kingdom, condemn this act in totality.

“We are peace loving people, doesn’t mean we should be taken for granted, we don’t like violence, doesn’t mean we don’t know how to be troublesome. For too long, so many tribes have been taking us for granted.

“Nobody should use your uniform (soldier) to cause mayhem in our community, we will resist it. They came last night in the name of military, under Tantita. We don’t want to escalate issues, we don’t want to see Tantita in our land again.”
