Tinubu Demands: I want to see unity amongst Itsekiris, discloses ‘me and Ogiame, spoke a lot’

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Itsekiris to come together “irrespective of interests”, saying she wants to see unity amongst Itsekiris.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Senator Tinubu, who made the demand Thursday February 26, at Palace of the Olu of Warri in Warri, Delta State, hinted that she and the Warri Monarch, spoke a lot, on the issue of unity in Itsekiri Nation.

The First Lady, who was accompanied to Warri by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II and some other prominent Monarchs from the South-West, reacted to the chieftaincy title The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III conferred on her, thus “Ogiame had to rewrite the constitution (Itsekiri traditional principles) to accommodate me, because I know Itsekiri doesn't give title to someone, who already had title.”

Mrs. Tinubu, who was conferred with the title of Utukpa-Oritse Iwere of Warri Kingdom, disclosed: “My mother is still alive at 93, she sends her greetings.

“My husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Arm Forces, sends his greetings and asked me to thank you. Ijaw, Urhobo, Igbo and others will enjoy his administration.

“I didn't influence the little my husband has done for Itsekiri. I will deliver your (referring to the Olu of Warri) requests to my husband.

“I came to show my gratitude for the support Ogiame and his wife, have given me and to also pay homage. I didn't have to mention Itsekiri people that have been given appointments by my husband. 50 million naira is being given to 1,000 women, courtesy of me, the governor (Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori) would handle that of the men. I commend the local government chairman, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac.”

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in his remarks, said: “We all see and acknowledge your gestures to the vulnerable in our society. The reception accorded you right from the airport, is organic.

“You are a great leader. You showed love to our traditional Rulers, that made things easy for me. You showed us love, even when we were in the opposition.”

Whilst describing Senator Tinubu as someone who knows how to play politics, “even though she (Mrs. Tinubu) will tell you she's not a politician”, Governor Oborevwori, asserted: “President Donald Trump recently singled you out and described you as a very respected woman. Keep encouraging us mummy, you have been there for me and my wife.

“I call on everyone to emulate her example of sacrifice. we have completed Flyover at Enerhen Junction, we will extend the road project to NPA, from NPA to Roundabout, by the grace of God.”

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, while delivering his brief address, acknowledged: “When we choose to give peace a chance based on truth and unity, there's nothing we can't achieve.”

The King, who stated that the Itsekiri people are proud of Senator Tinubu, said her humility and simplicity, are worthy of emulation.

“Thanks for carrying yourself in dignity. You and your husband, have our prayers and support. Thanks for all that you have done for your people. Our requests, have been sealed and presented to you”, he stated.
