The bold and structural reforms embarked upon by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the infrastructural development being executed in Itsekiri upland and riverine communities by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, have triggered Itsekiri Nation’s endorsement of President Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for a second tenure.
Fresh Angle International can report that the duo were endorsed at the Olu Palace, Warri in Delta State, Sunday May 17, when Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality in Politics (All Progressives Congress) organized a grand reception in honour of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the event, Dr. Alex Tosan Ideh, said the gathering was a moment of collective reflection, adding that Itsekiri Nation believe that leadership should not be evaluated by promises, but visible commitments.
Dr. Ideh, a founding leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Warri Federal Constituency, posited that President Tinubu has embarked on bold and structural reforms for long time benefits of the country, saying the President has laid strong foundation for economic recovery.

Whilst noting that President Tinubu has equally demonstrated political inclusivity of Itsekiri people, through strategic appointments of Itsekiris such as Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe and Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Dr. Ideh, mentioned the Trans Warri-Ode - Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads, Tisun - Kolokolo Road and the Model Technical College, Omadino, as some of the infrastructural projects completed and being executed by Governor Oborevwori’s administration.
“We plead for linking up of five more communities to the Trans- Warri-Ode - Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads. We are convinced beyond reasonable doubts that continuity would give us more gains” Dr. Ideh, stated.
In his opening remarks, Prince Yemi Emiko, commended President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for what he described as the giant strides they have recorded within a short period, saying it was the first of its kind in the history of Warri kingdom, that a President and Governor would be endorsed for reelection at the Olu Palace.
The Chairman, Contact and Mobilization Committee of the event, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, on his part, said Governor Oborevwori was doing a lot for the development of Itsekiri communities, adding, “Warri need a renewal agenda, I know that's what you have in mind.”
The Member Representing Warri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, asserted: “The Itsekiri Nation gathered to honour you (Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori) and our dear President (President Bola Ahmed Tinubu). Our president has instituted reforms that are turning the country around for good.
“There are so many projects in Itsekiri land that you have executed. Including our urban and riverine communities. We are asking that you do more for Itsekiri Nation. The President has appointed lots of Itsekiri sons and daughters into positions.”

Some prominent traditional rulers in Delta State, at the Olu Palace, Warri
While Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyenka, stated that the occasion was comparable to Warri kingdom coronation anniversary and when the First Lady, Sen. Remi Tinubu visited the Olu Palace in February this year, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, proclaimed: “I pray that you (Governor Oborevwori) have wisdom in abundance as well as favour in God and man. Put the interest of the state above others. Have the courage beyond sentiments all the time.”
An elated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in his response, declared: I'm deeply humbled by this grand reception. This organic show of solidarity to me and Mr. President, is humbling.
“We thank the Itsekiri Nation for endorsing us for a second term. This is the first time, a political gathering would take place in the palace, because of the love you have for us. We don't usually allow traditional rulers to get involved in such open show of political partisanship.
“This endorsement is organic, it wasn't lobbied for. The Itsekiri Nation stands out as a symbol of strength and resilience in Nigeria.”
Governor Oborevwori, mentioned prominent Itsekiri sons and daughters of the past and present that played critical roles in the development of the country, saying he is working vigorously to achieve his promise that Warri would wear a new face, in terms of Urban renewal.
‘We have been commended by all ethnic Nationalities in the state for our inclusive development. I have listened to your request, I will look into your request of completing the five spur of the other communities, linked to The Trans Warri Ode - Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads.
“The Trans Warri Ode - Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads, has not been commissioned, because of rehabilitation work on the Ubeji axis of the road, done about 15 years ago.
“I am doing a lot of projects in Itsekiri Nation, especially in the riverine. Continue to support me and the President, there's benefit for continuity.

“Ogiame should continue to manage the kingdom for peace, don't allow some chiefs to influence you negatively. Ogiame is a good man, if you see any mistake from Ogiame, just know it's from the chiefs”, Governor Oborevwori, stressed.
