Murder of NYSC Member: Itsekiri graduates shocked by Police silence

Itsekiri graduates worldwide under the aegis of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG have expressed shock at the silence of Delta State Police Command three days after a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC member serving in Imo State, Toritseju Lodge was gruesomely murdered in Delta.

The Corps member who was an alumni of Chief James Ibori owned Western Delta University, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State was reportedly shot thrice at his Oghareki residence at about 11:00pm Monday April 17 by a gunman who allegedly wore mask.

He was allegedly murdered while checking his phone, even as media report says the assailant reportedly took Toritseju Lodge’s mobile phone, removed the sim and memory cards, before destroying the phone, apparently to frustrate investigation.

The National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International Thursday April 20, strongly condemned the murder and the shocking silence of the Police Command in Delta State.

The statement which was released by NAIG President, Comrade Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema wondered why the Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Zanna Ibrahim failed to make any public statement on the murder three days after the gory incident.

While calling on Itsekiri students and Corps members of Itsekiri extraction across the country to be vigilant and security conscious, NAIG called on the Inspector General of Police to direct the Delta CP to immediately commence detailed investigation with a view to unraveling those responsible for the dastardly act.
